Artex - ETS Emergency Locator Test Set 406 MHz | 8701
Be absolutely certain that your electronic locator transmitter (ELT) is working as it should be. The Artex 8701 ETS ELT Test Set is a heavy duty, waterproof, handheld device that will read the transmitted code from a 406 MHz Cospas-Sarsat ELT. It will then display the beacon ID and all the encoded data contained on it on the reader. Additionally, this information is time-stamped and saved to a database. For added convenience, the beacon data can be read over the air (in a shielded enclosure or in test mode). If the beacon has an external antenna connection, it can also be read directly into the reader.
It is extremely important that all beacon IDs be registered with national authorities. With this ETS test set, you can verify the ID after installing or reprogramming easily and economically. A beacon must also be re-registered if ownership changes of the aircraft or the beacon, so it will need to be verified at that time as well.
This Artex 8701 ELT test set can also print its information to a serial or infrared (IRDA) enabled printer. It is possible to turn any ordinary printer that has a parallel port interface into an infrared printer with a low cost infrared adapter.
